Postpartum Doula Services
Philosophy: Offering Nurturing Support and Education to New Mothers, Fathers and their precious little ones.
"While mothers should be encouraged to trust
their instincts, the missing piece of the message is that much of this
mothering behavior is learned, not instinctive; and without the
education and emotional support of teachers and nurturers, it is much
more difficult and stressful to master"
-Sally Placksin (Mothering the
New Mother)
What is a Postpartum Doula?
A postpartum doula is a woman who assists the new mother, baby, and
the rest of her family within the first few weeks after the birth of the
baby. Postpartum doulas should be good with children, patient,
non-judgmental, and knowledgeable about newborn care and breastfeeding (www.CAPPPA.net).
The Postpartum Period can be delightful, enlightening
and sometimes difficult.
I provide non-judgmental, compassionate support and education that every mother and family deserve.
As your Postpartum Doula I will:
>Provide education on infant care
>Provide emotional support to mother & family
>Assist with household tasks and chores
>Help older siblings adjust to new baby
>Provide breastfeeding support & education
>Assist with care management of multiples
>Assist with sleep issues
As a Postpartum Doula I am available during the day as well as overnights. I am flexible and try to meet the individual needs of each of my families.
In addition to being a Postpartum Doula I am also a nanny. Please visit my Nanny Services tab for more information.
